Disneyland Resort is dropping the Magic Key no-show penalty. Starting Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2026, Magic Key holders will no longer be penalized for missing a park reservation, and they’ll be able to modify or cancel a reservation until 11:59 p.m. PT on the day of their visit.
The change was announced in a letter from Disneyland Resort President Jill Estorino emailed to Magic Key holders on Oct. 6. Park reservations are still required.

According to the letter, two things change for Magic Key holders starting Oct. 7:
Under the policy on Disneyland’s Magic Key pages, Key holders who were a no-show for three reservations in any 90-day window lost the ability to make new park reservations or modify existing ones for 30 days. To avoid a no-show, a reservation had to be used, or canceled or modified by 11:59 p.m. PT the day before.
| Rule | Before Oct. 7 | Starting Oct. 7 |
|---|---|---|
| No-show penalty | 3 no-shows in any 90-day window blocked new or modified reservations for 30 days | Removed |
| Deadline to modify or cancel | 11:59 p.m. PT the day before | 11:59 p.m. PT the day of |
| Park reservations | Required | Still required |
Magic Key holders still need a park reservation to visit. In the letter, Disneyland says reservations help it prepare for each day, and it asks Key holders to modify or cancel when their plans change so the availability can be offered to other guests.
Until now, a reservation that wasn’t canceled by the night before counted against a Key holder if they didn’t show up. Starting Oct. 7, plans that change on the day of a visit no longer carry a penalty, and Key holders can still release or move that reservation until 11:59 p.m. PT that day.
