Disneyland is hitting pause on one of its most popular breakfasts. The Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park character dining at Plaza Inn will be temporarily unavailable starting August 10, 2026, and is expected to return in late September. It's the resort's only in-park character meal, so the pause leaves a real gap for families who plan their day around it.

Disneyland has confirmed that the Character Dining experience at Plaza Inn will be temporarily unavailable starting August 10, 2026, with a return expected in late September. The park has not published a specific reopening date yet, so we'll update this post the moment one is announced.

If you've never been, here's what's on the line. Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park is an all-you-care-to-enjoy buffet inside Plaza Inn, just off the central hub at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. Minnie Mouse hosts, and seven or eight characters — often Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Chip 'n' Dale, Daisy, and Pluto — make their way around the tables while you eat.

The spread leans into Disney breakfast comfort food: Minnie-shaped waffles, made-to-order omelets, fried chicken with biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, French toast, pastries, and fruit. Plan for about 90 minutes, and note that valid theme park admission is required since the restaurant sits inside the park.

Pricing currently runs about $55 plus tax for adults and $33 plus tax for children ages 3 to 9, with kids under 3 dining free and Magic Key holder discounts available. (Confirm the live price on the Disneyland app before publishing.)

Where You Can Still Meet Characters Over a Meal

The good news: Plaza Inn isn't the only place to eat with characters at the Disneyland Resort. Three other character meals are running during the pause, and none of them require a theme park ticket since they're at the hotels.

Goofy's Kitchen — Disneyland Hotel. Chef Goofy leads a rotating cast of Disney friends through a big buffet that serves both breakfast and dinner. It's the closest match to Plaza Inn's lively, buffet-style vibe and the most kid-friendly stand-in. 

Storytellers Cafe — Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Mickey Mouse shows up in explorer gear for a California-folklore-themed buffet breakfast, joined by other characters. It's calmer and a little more upscale than Goofy's Kitchen, and it's steps from Disney California Adventure.

Disney Princess Breakfast Adventures — Napa Rose, Grand Californian. The premium pick. This one is a plated, multi-course breakfast with Disney Princesses and dedicated activity time, priced well above the others. Book early — it's the hardest reservation at the resort.

If your heart is set on Minnie specifically, Goofy's Kitchen is your best bet during the pause. For princesses, Napa Rose is the only option. Either way, reservations open 60 days out and disappear fast, so book as soon as your window opens.
